The all-rounder clean bowled all the three batters starting with India’s Veda Krishnamurthy. Veda was dismissed for 13 off 16 after she missed the ball completely while charging down the track. Next Van Niekerk got rid of Hurricanes skipper Corinne Hall for a duck after she missed the ball while attempting to play a cut. The next to fall was Stefanie Daffara, who missed the ball while playing a paddle sweep.

Earlier, Hurricanes were set a target of 153 from their 20 overs and the Hurricanes were on course before Van Niekerk’s over changed the course of the match. The Hurricanes eventually fell 33 runs short of their target.

With this win, Sixers have now won three out of their four games, while Hurricanes are yet to win a match in the tournament.
